The Beautiful Chaos of Being a Mom to Quadruplets (and a 10-Year-Old!)

May 1, 2025

If you’ve ever thought juggling while riding a unicycle on a tightrope sounded hard, allow me to introduce you to my life: mom to 10-year-old Emily and 2-year-old quadruplets—Evelyn, Adeline, David, and Daniel. Yes, you read that right—four toddlers at once. Plus, one big kid who swings between helpful older sister and undercover mischief-maker. Welcome to my circus. I mean, household.

Every day starts with a symphony of demands: “I want milk!” “I don’t want to brush my hair!” “Mom, I’m hungry!” I haven’t had a warm cup of coffee in approximately 1,092 days, but who’s counting? The morning routine is like running a relay race while wearing oven mitts—feeding, changing, dressing, brushing, refereeing—it’s a sport in itself. ESPN should honestly consider covering it.

But let me tell you something: it’s not all diapers and cracker crumbs in places they should never be (how do snack crackers get in the dryer?). There’s something magical about the madness.

Watching five little personalities bloom at once is like opening a new book every day. Emily is my sassy queen who bosses everyone—me included. Evelyn might be just as bossy as her older sister; she actually thinks she’s an only child and seems shocked to find out she really isn’t!! Adeline is the gentle heart who shares her blanket with her baby doll. David is a walking giggle factory with an obsession for eating anything in sight. And, Daniel? He’s our future stunt double.

Of course, there are moments I’ve cried behind bathroom doors (yes, with tiny hands still poking underneath). On days when no one naps, someone takes off their diaper, and there’s pee everywhere, dinner ends up being cereal straight out of the box. But then there are nights when all five kids are cuddled up, giggling at a movie, and I catch a glimpse of the magic behind the mess. The triumphs are sweeter in a house this full. First steps happen fourfold. First words echo like a chorus.

Being a mom to this crew means I’ve developed superpowers I never knew I had: lightning-fast diaper changes, the ability to carry three kids and a laundry basket, and a sixth sense for who’s too quiet (spoiler: it’s never good).

It’s loud. It’s messy. It’s wild. But it’s also bursting with love and laughter and the kind of chaos I wouldn’t trade for the world. Every meltdown, every sticky hug, every blown kiss is a reminder that in this beautifully unfiltered life, I’m doing something right.

So if you see me at the store with a cart full of diapers and children climbing it like a jungle gym, give me a smile—or a coffee. I’m raising a small army, one day (and juice spill) at a time.
