Sharing My Parenting Journey on How Social Media Positively Changed My Life, With Jessica Collier

Here at Gerber Childrenswear, we aim to share parenting journeys of all kinds, all year long. We're excited to share Jessica's journey with her littles.

Hello there, my name is Jessica. I’ve been married to my husband for eight years, and we have two beautiful girls. I started posting more on my Instagram when we had our first daughter, Amora. I remember working through my pregnancy from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. After Amora’s birth, I worked a different shift so my husband could watch her. We couldn’t afford a babysitter and didn’t have any family close by, so my husband worked from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and I worked from 2 p.m.  to 10 p.m. It was so hard being away from my little one but to stop working was an option we couldn’t afford. So, I started posting more and more about my pumping journey on my breaks at work and the video calls I’ve made home from work. It was just for fun, and in a few weeks, so many other mamas started following me and sharing my account to others.

Seeing all the support I was getting from other working mamas was so good for me because I wasn’t the only one trying to make ends meet with my little Amora.

After all those shared stories and posts regarding motherhood, and after a few months, some companies started to reach out to me with offers to work with them. Not long after that my husband and I both got notice that we were being laid off. I remember thinking, "How would this work?" "Can we survive?" My husband ended up getting a better job as a 911 emergency dispatcher and I went all in as a full-time influencer, and here I am now, a mom of two and already thinking about baby #3 (HAHAHA).

The two reasons I love being an influencer:

1. I just love being home with my kids and still able to make some income.

2. It’s so fun being able to share my favorite brands and help other mamas out there find great and affordable products.

To all mamas out there—you got this, you’re not alone, this shall pass. Enjoy the little and silly moments because they grow up so fast.

Sometimes I wonder where the time went or where I was. Being a mom is finding strength you didn’t know you ever had!

Thanks for reading this and remember, mama, if you’re having a hard day let’s take those kiddos outside to get some fresh air, and always remember that you’re doing your best and you are a little’s big world!

Keep up with Jessica and her parenting journey on instagram.
