Protecting the Environment For Future Generations

Everyone's talking about “going green.” We hear it everywhere. Foods, furniture, fabrics - so many are labeled 'sustainable' and 'environmentally friendly' and 'organic.' But what does it all really mean?

It all has to do with taking care of our planet, but their meanings are slightly different. In short, 'green' initiatives are products that are manufactured with environmental impact in mind; they must be recyclable or earth-friendly when they are disposed. ‘Sustainable’ products are those that minimize the impact on the environment at each phase of its life cycle. 'Organics' are products - plants or animals - that have not been touched by pesticides or other chemicals and contain 100% organically-produced ingredients, not counting the addition of water and salt to foods.

Gerber Childrenswear is doing our part to try to make the world a better place for our children through our products, packaging and employees.

Products

  • We offer an organic product line made of 100% organic cotton fibers which are naturally grown and naturally soft. Gerber organic cotton is grown without the use of harsh chemicals or pesticides.

Packaging

  • We are committed to using sustainable, eco-friendly retail packaging for all our products. All of our packaging inserts are made from 100% recycled stock.

Employees and Facilities

  • We are also doing our part to make the earth a better place within our offices for all our associates. We have implemented recycling bins throughout our facilities and use recycled paper for all our printing and copying needs. We are in the process of replacing our lighting fixtures with more energy efficient bulbs/systems, which will reduce our overall energy consumption. Styrofoam usage throughout our facilities has been eliminated or reduced to utilize more eco-friendly recyclable products.

If we all make baby steps in doing our part to protect the environment, then together we can make a giant leap towards making our planet a better place for future generations.
