PURGE, THEN SPLURGE!  MOMS TAKE ON THE WINTER CLOTHES CHANGE OUT

We all know the first rule of closet organization: If you haven’t worn it in a year, it’s time to say good-bye. It’s not easy to do, both for sentimental reasons and the practical fact that retro keeps coming back again and again. But you’d be surprised at how little you’ll actually miss those old clothes, so take a deep breath, dig in, and dilute.

To start, separate your clothes into three categories: wear, waste and consign. If you’re sure you’ll wear it, then recycle it back into your wardrobe for this season – many fashion trends are carrying over from last year, and a classic stays in style. If it’s stretched out, faded or fell victim to baby, it might be time to say farewell and simply trash it. And if it’s in good condition but there’s little chance you’ll wear it, give it to someone who will – through consignment, charity or even a friend.

And remember, as you add to your wardrobe throughout the year, look around for anything that can be purged. You don’t need to wait for spring cleaning to keep your closet organization.
